Filmed material on improvement of bad quality nesting sites of the Lesser Spotted Eagle.
Unstable nests of the Lesser Spotted Eagle, which fall out or might collapse due to natural features of the nest tree, are improved during implementation of the project “Conservation of the Lesser Spotted Eagle (Aquila pormarina) in Lithuanian forests”. An artificial platform is installed in the site of the unstable nest. The natural nest is placed on the platform. A new artificial nest is made in the nearest appropriate tree if the nest tree dies or is uprooted or broken by wind. The aim of these activities is to ensure as long as possible breeding of the eagles within protected nesting sites. In total 80 bad quality nesting sites of the Lesser Spotted Eagle will be improved.
